Sarah and Brent met up for their first date at the Laughing Buddha after a few weeks of texting, phone calls and FaceTime. Brent was nervous and panic ordered deep fried pickles. When they arrived at the table, he admitted he did not like deep friend pickles- and neither did Sarah. They laughed it off and it ended up being the perfect ice breaker for first date jitters. After that first date, they were inseparable.

After 6 months, Brent and Sarah decided to move in together as Sarah was returning to university. Sarah wouldn't move in until September, but Molly (Sarah's cousin and bridesmaid) moved in with Brent in June. Over the next 2 years they would make this tiny space their home with Charlie.

After only 4 months of living together, COVID-19 was announced in Canada. This pandemic forced Brent and Sarah to get creative with dates and activities while the relationship was still fairly new. They truly made this time fun for one another when the world was going through such a difficult time.

Sarah and Brent set out on their first big trip together. They drove from Sudbury to Banff in a small car and a tent. They hiked, biked, camped, kayaked, shopped and more. This trip brought them closer than ever.

Sarah and Brent purchased their first home among the crazy bidding war. They had been outbid on over 15 homes, but something about this house felt right. Their offer was accepted and renovations began immediately with the excitement of Sarah's upcoming home daycare.

On Mother's Day 2022, our stinky baby Wren joined the family. Sarah, Brent and Charlie had no idea what they were in for. As crazy as she was (and still might be), she has been such a wonderful addition to our lives.

The plan was to get takeout pizza with Kurt (best man) and Shana (bridesmaid). The girls set out to pick up the pizza, and Shana took the extra long way back home. When they pulled into the driveway, Sarah saw the the sidewalk and garden beds lined with candles and rose petals. Sarah walked down the steps and saw Brent standing beside the campfire with rose petals at his feet and "Forever and Ever Amen" by Randy Travis playing in the background (Sarah's favourite song). Melissa (our friend and photographer) jumped out from behind the garden bed to capture the moment. Brent got down on one knee and asked Sarah to marry her and of course she said "YES!". They popped a bottle of champagne and enjoyed their (now cold, but delicious) pizza with Melissa, Shana, Kurt and Wren.

Sarah and Brent announced their engagement in front of their family and friends, and revealed Sarah's 30th birthday party was actually a surprise engagement party. Though, we're not sure how many people were surprised since Sarah had a full week to show the ring off and we know how Sarah can keep a secret (she can't)
